Have you ever thought twice about the safety of the products you use every day? Do you think that the things you buy all the time, like soap, shampoo, and toothpaste, are safe? You probably think that since you use products like these all the time they must be safe, the government wouldn’t let unsafe chemicals be sold in stores! But I wouldn’t be so sure; we are actually exposed to thousands of toxic chemicals every single day all day.

Dating abuse is really common among teens; about 1 in 3 high school students have been or will be involved in an abusive relationship. An abusive relationship is when one partner tries to have power or control over the other. The abuse isn’t always physical, it can be emotional too. When you are young and dating for the first time, sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference between when a guy or girl wants to be around you all of the time because they really like you or because they are trying to have control over you. Read these dating myths to help figure out the difference.

When I first heard about a dental dam I thought it was a joke (partly because I watched my professor demonstrate how to use one by licking a giant piece of plastic wrap). I thought to myself, who would ever want to use something like that? To me, the idea of using one sounded weird because at the time, I was under the impression that STDs were only transmitted through vaginal or anal sex, not oral sex.

This video by Sex Etc. addresses many of the myths that are out there about STDs. I really like this video because it talks about STD myths that I use to think were true when I was 15.
