Consider yourself a sex ed expert? Even if you think you know everything there is to know about sex and sex education, there is always more to learn! Chances are, most of us have learned some things about sex that are not true (no, Mountain Dew does not prevent pregnancy) and Adult Sex Ed Month is a great time to learn a few more fun facts.
Here are 3 fun facts in celebration of never-ending sex education!
- Condoms do NOT really affect how good sex feels. A fairly recent study found that both men and women enjoy sex with condoms as much as they do without condoms. Bottom line? There is no excuse to skip the condom...and you can get free condoms from the Condom Access Project.
- It's totally normal whether you masturbate...or not! There are definitely some misconceptions about masturbation - like that all guys masturbate or that not many girls do. The truth is that whether you identify as a guy or girl or neither, it's totally normal to masturbate a lot, a little, or not at all. (As long as masturbating isn't interfering with other parts of your life like school or work...carry on!)
- If you're a student in California, it's your right to get comprehensive sex ed at school! It is now required by law for all public schools to teach both comprehensive sex ed and HIV prevention education at least once in middle school and once in high school. Learn more here!
