Confidence is hot! Don’t change who you are or what you believe in for someone else.

As a teen, you’re starting to develop your values and beliefs, such as your opinions about having sex before marriage or how you feel when someone uses the word “gay” in a negative way.  Being confident about what you believe in and who you are as an individual is hot!

Do you feel like you lack confidence or are constantly compromising your values to fit in? Here are some confidence boosters that might help you:

  • Smile and stand tall - If you look good, you will feel good, and feeling good leads to a better self-image. It takes fewer muscles to smile than frown, and when you smile people are more drawn to you!
  • Accept compliments and celebrate achievements - Are you good at soccer? Did you just get a great haircut? Did you help paint a mural for your community center? It’s important to acknowledge the great things that happen in your life!
  • Surround yourself with good people - Your friends and partners should be supportive, confident, and caring people who respect you AND your beliefs, even if they aren’t the same as theirs! If you are in a relationship or friendship that doesn’t nurture confidence and growth, get out!
