Condoms are important for a healthy sex life. Having unprotected sex can lead to negative consequences and can fill your life with unnecessary difficulties. Two of the many consequences to having unprotected sex include getting a sexually transmitted disease (STD) from a sexual partner or potentially becoming a teen parent.
By having unprotected sex we could be risking our dreams and aspirations. We picture our teenage years as fun and carefree, however by becoming a teen parent you not only have to take responsibility for yourself but for your child as well. First impressions of an infant may be cute and cuddly but as time progresses the child has needs, including clothes, food, diapers, shelter, patience, and unconditional love. Always think twice before having unprotected sex. Protect not only your body, but your future as well. By using condoms you are reinforcing positive decision making.
Also, condoms aren’t as dreary as you think! They can actually be really fun. Ways to make the process fun are:
- Using flavored condoms
- Buying them with your partner
- Using textured condoms
- “Practicing”
- Putting them on your partner
- Playing a game with your partner
- Using lots of lube
Condoms can help you protect yourself and can be very enjoyable. Be safe and be smart! Check out the STD and Birth Control pages for more information!
