Besides being the beginning of spring, April is STD Awareness Month and we are really excited to celebrate it! We want to use this month to show you all the importance of getting yourself tested for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs).
Anyone can get an STD. Lots of people think that only older adults can get infected, but the fact of the matter is many teens today are positive for STDs. In fact, some of the highest rates of STD infections in CA are among teens ages 15-19! While some of the most common STDs like chlamydia or gonorrhea can be treated, STDs like HIV are not curable. That is why getting tested and using protection during sex is so important for staying healthy! Getting tested is easy, confidential, and most of the time free! All you have to do is visit your nearest teen clinic.
