Have an STD? Notify Past Partners with an E-card from Inspot

Developed by the Internet Sexuality Information Service (ISIS), the InSpot website is an online resource that lets its users notify people they have had sex with that they have an STD. InSPOT provides 6 e-card templates for you to choose from, after which you can choose which sexually transmitted infection (STI) you have, add a personal message, and opt to include your email address if you choose. Including your email address is optional, as the site doesn't collect or compile any personal information.

Free STD Test for San Francisco Residents

If you live in San Francisco, there is a new free, confidential online STD testing resource that just launched in September 2008. The website is a collaboration between Internet Sexuality Information Services, Inc. (ISIS) and the San Francisco Department of Public Health - STD Prevention and Control. Through STDTest.org, you can print a lab slip and locate one or 7 testing sites to provide your sample. Test results then arrive within three to five days.

Do You Have the Phakz?

Rarely do I [no-glossary]come[/no-glossary] across a website that I am blown away by. Well, this website certainly does it for me. Their content includes info on sexual health, tobacco, healthy eating, and drugs and alcohol. What's really cool about this site is the neat layout. Each section is brightly color coded with easy to read info. Plus, the website is based out of Canada.

The Great American Condom Campaign

Teensource is pleased to announce the launch of the Great American Condom Campaign this year, a grassroots movement led by youth to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS and other STIs. The purpose of the campaign is to educate the American public about condom use and its related issues.

Healthy Bones for Young Girls

This colorful, animated website is a cool resource for young girls and healthy bones.  Powerful Girls provides info on what foods have calcium and what activities are good for your bones and your body.  Powerful Girls has tons of cool formulas on how to make calcium-filled treats, and tips for fun, bone-healthy activities you can do.  The Fun and Downloads section has games, quizzes, wallpapers, screensavers, and much more.

The Brain's Response to Marijuana

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) created a web site to educate teens on the science behind drug abuse. NIDA asked teens for help in developing the site to ensure that the content addresses age appropriate issues. his site delivers science-based facts about how drugs affect the brain and body so that teens will be armed with better information to make healthy decisions. Check out the animated illustrations, quizzes, and games throughout the site.

Condom Ringtone and Wallpaper

Check out this mass media campaign to prevent HIV in India. Condomcondom.org seeks to make condoms more socially acceptable and improve the image of a condom user as a smart and responsible person. You can download a condom song to use as a ringtone and even a condom wallpaper (the condom wallpaper is my current wallpaper on my desktop). Check it out! Also check out the 4 phases of the campaign that reached many in India. 

Safety Tip: Using your Car Alarm as Security

OK, to be honest, I almost instantaneously deleted this tidbit that I found in my junk mailbox.  This is one of those mass emails I got from my good intentioned friend who floods my inbox weekly with forwards (I think it is her way of staying in touch and saying “I’m thinking about you”).   Surprisingly, the info in this email is actually useful.  Here it is:
