The World's first GLTBQ Online High School

The world's first online high school created specifically for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender youth, or those questioning their sexuality or gender is opening in 2010. The school is committed to providing quality education for GLBT students in a safe and welcoming web-based environment. The school plans to begin serving students in grades 9-12 in early 2010 and is already accepting applications. To apply, head over to their website and click on Admissions.

Youth-Friendly Pharmacy Initiative

Pharmacy Access Partnership , a center of the Pacific Institute for Women's Health, is working with pharmacists, health care providers and teens to develop a Youth-Friendly Pharmacy Initiative (YFPI) to motivate teens to better leverage the opportunities for health access in pharmacies. The YFPI’s goal is to make pharmacies a useful access point of care for teens, to improve their overall sexual and reproductive health, while recognizing and addressing the unique barriers that adolescents face.

The company website (which encourages you to "stay strapped") has instructions on how to use a condom and you can purchase condoms directly from the website. Don't expect to be see these condoms at your local drugstore as these are currently available only online (unless you live in one of the rare Southern cities where these are sold).

China Using Video Games as a Form of Sex Education

China is using a video game to address overpopulation in the country. The "Happy" game is a first-person interactive game that tests the players on their knowledge of contraceptive options, and rewards them based on their performance. Women receive cyber-flowers and get to spend their husband’s cyber-money, while men are punished with cyber-housework.
