Say it with me, “Masturbation!” Yes! Most people do it — yet so many people worry about doing it! That's because there’s a lot of myths out there that masturbation is dirty, dangerous, or something to be embarrassed about doing. But the truth is:

Masturbation is safe and healthy.
People of all ages do it.
Guys do it, and girls do it too.
Single people and people in relationships do it.
Some people do it a few times a day, and some do it a few times a year.

The FDA has approved a new birth control cap that covers the woman's cervix. The Prentiss Cervical Cap has gone off the market, but FemCap is a reusable cap that women can use instead.

Peer Providers: Mandated Reporting

The purpose of mandated reporting is to protect people from abuse. Mandated reporters tell child protection agencies or the police about situations that might be abusive. Mandated reporters must be at least 18 years of age. If you are under 18, your supervisor must make the report.

Most sexual activities between minors close in age, who both consent, are not reported. While there are laws against minors having sex, it is not your job to enforce those laws. Your job is to help protect people from abuse.

Peer Providers: Confidentiality

Each client’s personal information is protected by law. Every talk you have with a client is confidential. Every written record about a client is confidential. Information can be shared with a clinic staff member who needs to know.

Agency News- Teens Teaching Through Theatre

Carnelius Quinn from T4, a program of Routes for Youth, was recently interviewed about this creative program. T4 is a unique theatre troupe in that it fuses two worlds together that rarely gets a chance to co-exist. Carnelius says, "While we rehearse and perform like any other troupe, our jobs do not end there. The writing is our own – inspired by the lives of the cast, and their encounters in the community. We are a mirror for life, and a drawing board for change. The group is its own community, and provides an outlet for the cast to speak.
