Youth-Friendly Pharmacy Initiative
Pharmacy Access Partnership , a center of the Pacific Institute for Women's Health, is working with pharmacists, health care providers and teens to develop a Youth-Friendly Pharmacy Initiative (YFPI) to motivate teens to better leverage the opportunities for health access in pharmacies. The YFPI’s goal is to make pharmacies a useful access point of care for teens, to improve their overall sexual and reproductive health, while recognizing and addressing the unique barriers that adolescents face. Youth-friendly services are an extension of services currently provided in pharmacies and offer an environment that is sensitive to the needs of youth clientele.
Many pharmacies are interested in meeting the needs of their youth clients. And, pharmacies are an important access point for teens to get condoms and other sexual health products. Pharmacists are health care professionals available to answer teens' questions about sexual and reproductive health and can also provide referrals for other health care needs. Ask your pharmacist today to become youth friendly!
