Youth organizers win! Oakland schools demilitarize!

Thanks to student-led organizing efforts, students in the Oakland Unified School District have won the right to be protected from military recruiters. Last week on May 12th the OUSD Board of Education voted to pass the Student Privacy and Equal Access Resolution. The resolution gives students the chance to opt-out of a new military recruiting database that is a privacy nightmare.

Condoms Help Reduce the Risk of Genital Herpes

New research shows that using condoms during vaginal and anal sex helps reduce the risk of genital herpes. This is good news for lots of young people; genital herpes is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections in the United States. One in five young people and adults is infected with HSV-2, the virus that causes genital herpes.
