Bonus New Year's Blog: Don't Drink and Drive!

Don’t drink and drive for all these reasons:

  • 1. It’s dumb- you are literally dumber when you drink. So that means you cannot react as fast when driving, and it will be more difficult to avoid the other drunk drivers.
  • 2. It can get you or someone else hurt – Alcohol related car accidents accounted for about 35% of all car crash fatalities. That is completely preventable.
  • 3. You will get caught – Cops are always out in full force during this time. I can think of 4 friends under 30 years old that have had DUI’s.
  • 4. You can’t afford it – court fee are around 1,800 dollars, plus a 48 hour term in jail, 6 month driver’s license suspension and the DUI school.
  • 5. It’s never worth it- Pay the 50 dollars for a cab, or spend the night at a friend’s. Nothing is worth putting your or someone else’s life at risk simply because you wanted to drive.

Tips on how to party smart:

  • 1. Figure out the designated driver, and make sure that person is reliable.
  • 2. Have a cab company’s number in a cell phone, just in case.
  • 3. Carry cash on your body, not just in a wallet.
  • 4. Keep an eye out for you friends- don’t leave without any of them.
  • 5. Be extra careful if you decide to have sex. Use protection, and make sure that you are using it properly.
